Hot on the heals of my pound cake obsession, I found an innovation that literally sent me into a tail spin. Yes, I know I am dramatic! But honestly I couldn’t wait to try it!
I cannot lay claim to this ingenious baking method, which I found in a Facebook food lovers group I belong to called “So You Think You Can Cook?”, but I completely own my fascination with it! Go here for a detailed guide on how to achieve this marvelous creation.
My first attempt yielded what I can best describe as a World Cup inspired look. It was cheerful, multicolored and swirly just like the Brazil 2014 logo…..not necessarily in the exact hues but you catch my drift…..
These were some steps I took towards achieving my tie – dyed – technicolor – World Cup – logo – wannabe cake (all these adjectives! A bit much but alas….)
Giddy from my success, a few days after a dear dear friend’s son turned four and quite naturally I offered to bake a cake for him. He’s an adorable little boy and I wanted to make something special. I knew I wasn’t going to try my hands at fondat (My mum didn’t raise a fool) so I opted for a cream cheese frosting with some sprinkles. It was wasn’t the most elegant cake but it was interesting to look at.
For the recipe for the pound came please read my “P is for Pound Cake – Cream Cheese a Pound a Cake to be Exact” post.
This cake is all sorts if fun; do try it and please send pictures when you do.
Happy Baking!
